Let's get started to create Frugal Home
Design paint a room success!
1. Always provide ample ventilation. Even though water based paint has minimal fumes - there is still enough to create
possible irritation to your eyes or sinuses.
If you are especially sensitive to smells - use a paper mask or even goggles to minimize irritation.
2. Don't forget to stir the paint. Now, if you have just gotten back from the hardware store - a quick shake before opening the can is sufficient. If it's been a few days - you will need a thorough stir from top to bottom using a stir stick.
3. Paint the ceiling first - then the walls. Start by painting the ceiling edges first with a brush and then use a roller in the center. We suggest using an extension rod and roller for the large areas of the ceiling for ease of sight.
4. Load the Brush using the 1/3 rule. For best results dip the brush only up to 1/3 of the bristle distance - then tap the brush against the can lip - don't wipe. Also, to prevent hand fatigue try holding the brush like a fat pencil.
5. For a clean edge use an angled bristle brush.
6. For the main wall space...use a roller. It's best to slightly dampen the roller first with water; then dip it into the paint tray, roll up until saturated but not to the point of dripping paint. Start with a W stroke pattern then work in a long floor to ceiling strokes to cover any missed spots. Be sure to overlap your lines to avoid roll marks.
7. When finished allow your room to dry for 24 hours. Though Latex dries quickly it is best to allow the 24 hours to be able to clearly spot areas of needed touch ups. Hopefully you chose a Premier paint over the more inexpensive type so very little touch up is needed.
